Vodacom Free SMS
When it comes to sending free SMSes to Vodacom numbers you are spoilt for choice. If you are a Vodacom subscriber then you should know that you can send up to 20 SMSes (and 5 MMSes) from Vodacom's online portal - Vodacom4me every day.
The only limitation with Vodacom4me is that the free SMS functionality does not work from mobile phones, so you need to access it from a PC (or through a mobile gateway site like Free082SMS on your mobile phone).
If you aren't a Vodacom subscriber or you don't want to use Vodacom4me to send free smses, then MahalaSMS is an alternative that allows you to send up to 20 SMS per day to any of the South African mobile networks (ie Vodacom, MTN, CellC & Virgin Mobile).
TextMeFree provides a listing of international SMS sites by country, and in terms of Free international SMS, SMSteroid is excellent - This site allows you to send up to 75 Free international SMSes every day, it works and there is no catch as far as we could see, all our test SMSes delivered succesfully to Vodacom & CellC in South Africa (MTN and Virgin Mobile weren't tested).
SMSteroid is great option for staying in touch with family or friends around the globe, a very comprehensive and free SMS offering.
